How to keep your accounts secure: Tello’s best practices
In today’s always-online world, protecting your personal information is just as important as protecting your home, your phone, or your wallet. At Tello, we’re committed to keeping your wireless experience simple, affordable, and, most importantly, secure. But account security is a team effort.
Whether you’re logging in to your Tello account, checking your bank app, or signing in to your favorite streaming service, good security habits go a long way. Below, we’ll walk you through essential tips for creating stronger passwords and enabling two-factor authentication (2FA).

🔒 Start with a strong, unique password
Your password is the first line of defense, so make it a strong one:
- should have 8 – 12 characters
- a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters
- avoid using your name, birthday, or anything easily guessed
- should be completely unique (don’t reuse it across different accounts!)
Password Do’s
✔ Use passphrases (e.g.: Star!Matcha!Joy213)
✔ Replace letters with symbols or numbers (e.g.: St@r!Matc#a!Joy213)
✔ Store passwords safely using a reputable password manager
Password Don’ts
✘ Don’t reuse the same password on multiple websites
✘ Don’t use “123456”, “password”, pet names, or important event dates (e.g.: b-day)
✘ Don’t share your passwords, ever
✘ Don’t save your password in unencrypted notes or emails
👉 Tello Tip: If your Tello account password isn’t already strong and unique, we encourage you to change it here. And don’t forget to follow the tips above to make it unbreakable.

🔐 Use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) whenever possible
Nothing strengthens your account security like a second layer of protection.
What is 2FA?
Two-factor authentication strengthens your login by asking for your password plus a second verification step, like a code sent to your phone via SMS / email or generated by an authentication app.
Why it matters: Even if someone gets your password, they still can’t access your account without the second factor.
Common 2FA methods:
- SMS verification codes
- Authentication apps (e.g.: Google Authenticator)
- Email verification
👉 Tello Tip: Always enable 2FA where available: email, banks, social media, cloud storage, your Tello account, everything.
Steps to enable Tello 2FA:
We highly recommend enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for better security, although it is optional.
- Log into your Tello account and navigate to the My Information page.
- Under Account Details, locate the Extra Security section for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
- Click on the “Set Up” button.
- Use your preferred authenticator app to scan the displayed QR code. Alternatively, you can manually enter the provided key code.
- To finalize the enrollment, enter the unique code generated by your authenticator app.
Once completed, your account will be protected with 2FA. For every subsequent login, you will be required to enter a unique One-Time Password (OTP) generated by your authenticator app.
Keep your digital world protected! 🔒💙
Online security doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be simple, yet strong, just like Tello phone plans. With a bulletproof password, 2FA enabled, and a bit of awareness, you’re already ahead of the curve.
