Introducing Scam Guard: Your new defense against scam calls
We’re kicking off 2025 by introducing one of our latest features: Scam Guard, your new best friend that keeps scam calls away!
As you might already know, scam calls aren’t just annoying, they can also be dangerous. They aim to trick you into sharing personal information or falling for fraudulent schemes.
Let’s jump into it and see what makes Scam Guard a must-have for staying stress-free and avoiding those scenarios!
What is Scam Guard?
Scam Guard is the latest extra feature from Tello, that protects you by enhancing call security and giving you peace of mind.
You can opt for one of the two available options:
⚠️ Scam Alert: This option shows “Scam Likely” next to the caller ID on your device, alerting the potential scam calls without blocking them. If you prefer a more flexible protection, Scam Alert should have you covered.
🛑 Scam Stop: Automatically blocks suspected scam calls, providing stronger protection if you want a more secure calling experience. You will not receive or see the blocked calls, and no call logs or traces will be available.
How to get started?
Scam Guard is an extra feature available only for the plans with a voice component (containing minutes), priced at $2 per billing cycle.
Scam Guard is a flexible feature, allowing you to switch between Scam Alert and Scam Stop at any time, free of charge, as long as you have an active Scam Guard subscription.
If you’re new to Tello: If you’re purchasing your first Tello phone plan or if you’re adding a new line, you can easily add Scam Guard during checkout.
If you’re already a Tello customer: You can add the feature through the My Settings page. You need to hit the “Buy” link and also complete the checkout process and place your $2 Scam Guard subscription order. After finishing the purchase, you’ll be able to see the two options back on the My Settings page: Scam Alert and Scam Stop. Please note that the default selection after purchase is Scam Alert, but you’re always free to choose the one you like best.
What else to know
🔵 Scam Guard is part of your Tello plan, as an Extra Plan feature. That means, you will have to pay extra for this feature and the cost is charged, alongside your plan.
Unlike Tello Add-Ons, Extra Features are tied to the same recurring billing cycle as the plan they’re linked to and will continue to renew alongside it until either is disabled (rather than expiring at the end of the current billing cycle, like add-ons).
🔵 If you choose to renew your plan via SMS the SMS renewal will apply to the plan along with the Scam Guard features.
🔵 When manually canceling a plan, both the plan and the Scam Guard subscription will be canceled.
🔵 If you change your plan, then Scam Guard will need to be repurchased with the new plan, otherwise, it will expire after 30 days from the initial purchase.
Why you’ll love Scam Guard
Let’s face it, nobody wants to waste their time on scam calls. With Scam Guard, you’re protecting yourself from potential threats and have the peace of mind that you deserve.
No more interruptions during the day and no more manually blocking numbers. And the best part? Scam Guard works as an unseen hero, in the background, so you can focus on what you love without worrying about unwanted calls. Scam Guard is here to help you stay connected on your terms, as it’s super flexible and it costs just $2 per billing cycle.
