on your list tello or access to it as a carrier is not shown.
YOU SHOULD TELL CLEARLY WHAT YOU MEAN AND WHERE TO GO TO TO FILE TELLO AS DESIRED CARRIER.. I HAVE SPENT HALF A MORNING TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS.
Hello, Reginald,
We’re sorry for the inconvenience. This article is meant to help people find their carrier transfer information easier. Please tell me how can I assist or contact our human Customer Support directly and they’ll gladly help you with anything. Thanks for reaching out, have a nice day!
This is very helpful but it is not complete. If you are using a BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) you ALSO need the MEID or IMEI of the phone, AND SIM card. At lease for Sprint, and probably all other carriers.
Also i did not read anywhere that it takes 5 days to port in from Sprint. Presently without warning, i have no data, voice, or text, connection, Trying to do business without a phone needs to be planned and scheduled.. It would be very helpful to let customers know what kind of time porting takes for each carrier.
Lowers my confidence in your service.
Additional information if you are using BYOP: you need to reset the Carrier, Profile and PRL. Don’t worry it will not erase your phone. Here i was waiting for my phone to come online, and all i had to do was the above.
Also to sign into the Tello App, use your phone number +1(XXX)XXX-XXXX format with no spaces. NOT intuitive, but it works!
For xfinity mobile to figure out account number and PIN you need to go to:

Hi, my mom passed away, how can I port her number from Assuranse Wireless, which is not on your list either? Thank you.
Hi, Mr. B,
We’re sorry for your loss. Please contact our Customer Support Team to address this.
Your Account Number for Total Wireless is your IMEI
Okay I get that how to get all the information. Nowhere in the article I saw that you mentioned how to give all these informations to tello and how to initiate the procedure. Is it through a form using the webpage or is it by calling you guys?!?
Hi, Syeed,
Good question, you got me there!
Here are the details:
If you want to port your number to Tello you first need to see into which category you fall:
1. if you bring your own phone and you don’t need a CDMA SIM, simply fill in the port-in form provided while going through the bring your own phone process.
-if your number is Sprint® Network* active, the port in is mandatory
-if your number is not active on Sprint® Network*, you have the option to port in your old number or get a new number from Tello during the bring your own phone process
2. if you purchased a phone or a CDMA SIM from us, then after you receive the package and activate the phone, you need to go to the Port-in section of the My Phone page and follow the steps;
3. if you already have an active line with Tello and want to port in a new number to replace the existing number, just go to the Port-in section of the My Phone page and follow the steps;
I don’t see Mint Mobile listed? Will I be able to port a number from them? If so, exactly what is needed to do that — and I will be bringing my own device? Also, about how long will the process take?
Thanks, I think I got the need info from a chat with Mint. Is there a way to see exactly what my monthly cost will be WITH taxes and fees with Tello before signing up?
Yes, at checkout, you get the see the total amount that includes the taxes for your area, before having to pay, the info is displayed on your top right – where you can see your order. Thanks!
I bought a phone from tello
And want to port my old number to the new phone .
Do I activate the phone first or go to the port existing number step??
Hi, Keith,
As you purchased a phone from our website, once you receive the package, the next step will be to log in to your account, go to My Phone section and click on Activate Service. 4. Remove the old SIM from your Phone (if any) and insert the new SIM from the card you’ve just received.
5. Follow the on-screen steps (if any) to allow your phone to Activate.
6. Try to make a call, send an SMS & surf the web, depending on your service settings. If by any chance things do not work please wait 30 minutes and then reboot your phone and try again. If you still need assistance, contact our 24/7 Live Support.
I think customers should not only comment when there’s something wrong. I was using AT&T for $100 a month. I switched to Tello and now I’m paying $20. How cool is that?
Also porting my number to Tello took like 5 minutes.
Thank you guys!
Thanks, Xio!
We totally support customers that drop us some love in a comment, anytime!
So glad that you’re a part of the Tello Family and that the savings look so good for you, happy to help!
Have a great one, thanks!
Ok so I am going to port in my number from Boost. Once I have my Boost account information, what do I do next? I want to bring my phone for now, then upgrade it in the next month or so. When I go to PORT IN my MY TELLO, it say NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOR NOW and the same for the part that says MY PHONE. How do I commence the porting process? Thanks so much for your help in advance 🙏🏼
D.Z., thanks for writing!
If you bring your own phone and you already have a GSM SIM from us, simply fill in the port-in form provided while going through the bring your own phone process. If you purchased a SIM from us, then after you receive the package and activate the phone, you need to go to the Port-in section of the My Phone page – that will now be available – and follow the steps.
If you’re still having issues and need some guidance, please give my colleagues from the Customer Support Team a ring and they’ll sort you out, thanks!
Thank you Maria.
✨GREAT✨ -ly appreciated 😜
Hello All,
Can anyone tell us how to port Speedtalk mobile # to Tello mobile number?

Hello, as far as I know, the process for porting from Speedtalk to Tello is the standard, and here’s what you need:
-Phone number you want to transfer
-Account number
-Port-out PIN/Password
-First name and last name as listed on the phone bill
-Your address as listed on the phone bill
Can I use the an old verizon land line number that’s not in use as the number on my new Tello account?
Skyler, as long as your number is active, the porting should work just fine. Fingers crossed, thanks!
Hi,
Should I order order and activate Tello SIM before start transfer?
Hi there Nori!
You first need to order the SIM and wait for the package to arrive at your address. Once it arrives you can make the switch to GSM. Better said, here are a few steps you need to take:
Hope this helps, if not please let us know, oru Customer Support team is here 24/7.
Can I port in my active Tello number to a new Tello sim?
Hi Deanna,
Absolutely! If you’re still on our old CDMA network, please stay tuned for upcoming communications about moving to GSM in “My account” and via email. The migration to GSM is scheduled in batches, and we’re preparing personalized step-by-step advice for each customer when they become eligible. Thank you!
Good morning!
When checking my phone’s compatibility, I got the following message:
*GSM compatible: YES. This phone can be used for new line activation or replacement for an existing Tello GSM line.
*CDMA compatible: NO. This phone can not be used as a replacement for an existing Tello CDMA line.
Will I be able to use my phone with Tello and to port my current number?
Thank you!
Hi, Maria,
This is Maria (couldn’t help it :D). If you get the OK message from us – “GSM compatible: YES. This phone can be used for new-line activation or replacement for an existing Tello GSM line”, you’re all good. When you join Tello, you get a Tello number and later on, when you are ready, you can transfer your own number. Fingers crossed, thanks!
Can I get a new number from Tello when I activate the GSM sim, and later port in a number from another provider? Is porting number free?
Thanks!
Hello, Wen,
When you join Tello, you can definitely get a Tello number and later on, when you are ready, you can transfer your own number. Hope this helps, thanks!

Your address as listed on the phone bill
First name and last name as listed on the phone bill
Should you need any help, please give our Human customer support team a ring and they’ll gladly sort you out!
What are the instructions for visible?
Hi, Rahul,
Here’s what they say on their website about finding your account number and port-out PIN needed to transfer your number out:
“Log-in to your account and go to your Account section to find your Account number and the button to request a Port-Out PIN. If you’re on desktop, please make sure you’re on the “Profile’’ tab. Please note, your PIN won’t be displayed within the account section. You must request it via email or from a Care agent.”
Hope this helps, thanks!
Hi, will I be able to port a landline number from Frontier to tello? I called Frontier and they tell me it is ready to be ported out, but still get the message on tello ,This phone number cannot be ported to Tello. Hi , I want to know , I have unlocked Iphone and i want to use tello with new number , I want to keep my current number as it is with different carrier i have , i want to use tello as secondary number , no where is mentioned if i buy the plan , i believe i will get the new number also or not , please provide some information about that
Hiya, Anks,
When you sign up to Tello you can absolutely keep your current phone number. At first, you’ll get a temporary number and there will be no numberless downtime, and then you can port your own number.
If you need more details or help with anything, please contact our Customer Support team. Thanks!
I ported my number from Tracfone and it was a little frustrating I tried the steps above and had 2 failed ports. I had to call Tracfone and set up a secure PIN, once that was done the port went right through.
Can I port NetTalk phone number (I believe it is VOIP) into Tello?
Yes, as long as your number is active, it’s fine, thanks!
The instructions for Red Pocket are wrong. The account # and PIN are not what this article says, and you have to ask Red Pocket customer service for your account # and PIN if you don’t already have them.
Hi, I’m trying to transfer my number over from Tracfone but it’s saying my pin is incorrect. However here it says it should just be 0000 so I’m not sure what to put other than that.
Jordan,
If the number transfer failed due to an incorrect pin, you’ll have to contact Tracfone, please, and ask for the port out details.
There’s nothing we can do here. After you have that sorted out, please try again, thanks!
VoIP Business provides you with some best quality services of internet telephone that help you to build up your business communication and communicate all over the world without any hurdles. So, just visit the site and book your plan according to your need within no time.
How can I find NET10? I’m with NET10 now and want to transfer my NET10 phone number to Tello.
Hello, there,
In order to port in your phone number to Tello, you will need to have some information from the current carrier that has your number. The numer still needs to be active when starting the transfer.
-Phone number you want to move
-Current provider
-Account number
-PIN/Password from the current provider
-Your address as listed on the phone bill
-First name and last name as listed on the phone bill
Please contact your current provider and gather this info. We’ll be waiting, thanks!
Thanks for the post Interesting stuff to read. Keep it up.
I have been trying to port my number from Optimum/Cablevision to Tell. I have tried so many times and called Optimum customer support and received however it keeps getting rejected stating incorrect PIN.
Unfortunately, since the PIn is incorrect, there’s nothing we can do. Please contact your carrier to sort this issue out, thanks!
Hey Tello person ,
So I followed your port in steps
Step 1 activate sim with new number you assign
Step 2 go to port in form fo on your site and fill in the correct info from my old carrier -and click submit
…here is something new to you should be aware of with AT&T…so I know the port in request successfully was received by AT&T as I got a text on my old or current phone with them wanting me to acknowledge I am indeed wanting to leave them ..m I replied accordingly and tge message I then received was “thank you sorry you are leaving us. Please tell your new carrier to now resubmit the port request and we will then release “””
So…. I need your help with this final step .
Please ensure the port request for the number you see I’m porting In is confirmed. Lastly how will I know when you have successfully completed replacing the new temporary number I activated and replaced it with the number I am porting in? Will I receive a text ? Will I need to power off my old phone and power cycle my new phone ?
Please resubmit port of needed …once confirmed please activate it replacing my current temp number and please reply on the questions above and once done . Ty you rock !
Hi, Dustin,
Thanks for choosing Tello! You’re quite the wireless savings’ rockstar yourself!
I’ve checked with my colleagues and it seems that in the meantime, you ported your number and got the confirmation email from us, as well.
Please open that and follow the steps listed there for troubleshooting if needed. Thanks!
can i transfer my total wireless number to tello?
Jake, of course you can!
Here are the port in details you need to provide to our Customer Support team are the following:
–Current number
–Current provider
–Account number from current provider
–PIN/Password from current provider
–Your address as listed on the phone bill
–First name and last name as listed on the phone bill.
A customer provided this info as well: Your Account Number for Total Wireless is your IMEI. Hope it works, fingers crossed!
I think Tmobile PREPAID information needs to be updated. I originally tried to use my phone number (as directed in the above instructions), but it failed. I called Tmobile and was told they migrated the accounts to a new billing system and now they use a unique account number that can be seen when you log into your prepaid account on their website. The number in my account is an eight digit number. I’m still waiting to see if the new port request goes through, but somebody from Tello might want to research this to confirm it is no longer using the phone number like the instructions above say.
Thanks for this, we’re going to look this up!
For ATT, you have to dial *7678 and provide your account pin in order to receive the transfer number pin (to give to Tello for the port in request). When the port out from ATT is successful, your line will automatically be removed from your ATT account (so you don’t have to call to cancel manually).
Hello. How do I transfer from NumberBarn? How I can the number before I buy service if the number is transferable?
Please shoot us an email with your number and our Customer support team will check this for you. Thanks!
What about Puretalkusa? You do not have it listed.
Elizabeth, there are no specific steps you need to take to port out your number from PureTalk to Tello, so the regular info applies and you’ll need:
-the account number from the current provider
-PIN number from the current provider
-Your address as listed on the phone bill
-First name and last name as listed on the phone bill
-If the number to port is a landline, the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
Interested in Carrier transfer BUT in Verizon family plan AND account NOT in my name. Is there any hope for me????? Or should I stay with the Verizon plan??????
Jerry, please contact our Customer Support and they’ll guide you on what to do in this situation, thanks!
Hi
Tello’s instructions to port a T-mobile prepaid phone number state to use the 10 digit phone number with a “1” in front, but I see on my T-mobile prepaid account that I have a 9 digit account number very different from my phone number. Which number should I use for porting?
Also Tello instructions say to use my 4 digit PIN from T-mobile but its a 10 digit PIN so is this a problem?
Tony, thanks for your patience!
If you have not done so already, you will need to contact your previous carrier to retrieve the following information directly from them:
– Account number from the previous carrier
– PIN number from the previous carrier
– Your address as listed on the phone bill
– First name and last name as listed on the phone bill
– If the number to port is a landline, the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
Should you need some help, please don’t hesitate to give us a ring, thanks!
Having trouble with porting Puretalk number to Tellow. Have corrected my typos. Several times and still no change. Do I try to fill out the Porting form again ??
Carolyn, thanks for reaching out!
I’ve talked to my Customer Support teammates and they want you to know that they’re working on it and we’ll keep you posted on the matter. Since it’s in progress, you can’t fill it in again.
I’m thinking about moving to Tello, but it makes me uneasy that there’s no information available about how to port my number OUT of Tello, if I decide it’s not right for me.
So, before I port my number in, would you please tell me how I would port it out? Thanks.
Beth, thanks for writing. We understand your concern, but maybe reading what our customers have to say about us would help, please find them here:https://www.trustpilot.com/review/tello.com.
About your question, please know that when you already have a Tello number, the port out details will be available in the online account. For security reasons, all customers are required to retrieve their porting information (Tello Account Number) directly from their own online account. (this feature is not available in the “My Tello” App).
-Go to the “My SIM” tab in your online account
-Scroll down to the “Port Out” section and click “Information”
-Click on the “Retrieve Tello Account Number” button
-Provide the required information to see the Tello Account Number.
Hope this helps, thanks!
I followed the directions for Republic and it only took minutes to port my number to Tello. Very pleased!
I have prepaid service with Simple Mobile and want to sign up for Tello with the same phone number that I have now.

Can you please let me know what I need from amesma.net in order to transfer my number to Tello?
Hi Koichi,
In order to bring your number to Tello you will need to contact your current provider to retrieve the following information:
Here is more information on the topic: https://tello.com/help_center/how-can-i-bring-my-current-phone-number-over-to-tello?_language=en
Currently I’m on TruConnect and want to port my number to Tello, but it’s not on your list above. I have all the information I need to port my number (account number, PIN, etc) but don’t want to purchase a Tello plan if I can’t port my number from TruConnect. Thank you.
Hi Meggie,
The article is from 2019, so not all operators are listed there.
If you have all the info needed, if your phone is Tello compatible and you can port out from TruConnect then you can easily port in to Tello. Follow the steps and you should be fine. If needed, you can always contact our Customer Support team, they are available 24/7.
I have now ported two numbers that were with two different service providers.
One number came from Page Plus, which is basically TracFone (now Verizon Wireless). Before porting, I called Page Plus to ensure that they had the correct IMEI and confirmed my account PIN. Transferring was as simple as providing the same information as for a port-out from TracFone. (NOTE: the instructions for sending text messages listed under TracFone DO NOT work, you CANNOT get your PIN this way!)
The other came from Consumer Cellular. The information for that carrier requires some updating.
– You MUST call Consumer Cellular and ask for a PORT-OUT PIN to be generated. This is NOT your account PIN.
– You MUST have an account PIN set up before you can make this request, because you will be asked by Consumer Cellular for your account PIN, and they will not generate a PORT-OUT PIN if you do not have an account PIN. This is a new “security” procedure.
The instructions for the Magic Jack port out is incorrect. Tello needs the account password, not the PIN. Also the password requirements for Magic Jack is uppercase/lowercase and special characters.
Please be advised that it depends indeed on the other carrier when it comes to retrieving the correct information.
When you’re retrieving your information, you need to ask specifically for your PORT OUT information, not the account number and/or PIN, it might be misleading for the other party.
Therefore, we recommend to ask specifically for the Port Out Information, not just the account number/ port out pin.
I have a Canadian account through Telus mobility. Can I still port my number to Tello? Thx.
Hi Susan,
Tello Mobile is a US MVNO, offering 5G/4G LTE coverage only throughout the US. If you wish to use Tello outside the US, you can do it by enabling Wi-Fi Calling. See more details here.
You need to update the info above on Consumer Cellular.
Consumer Cellular now uses a transfer pin, which needs to be obtained by calling customer service or opening a CHAT.
I just read these threads before I attempted any port over of my US phone number to my newly activated Tello eSIM. I tested the eSIM IMEI number first to confirm it was available to activate. Check! I confirmed my phone number was available to port over. Check! So, I initiated the port over. Before doing so, I called T-Mobile to SPECIFICALLY confirm my account number, my account PIN AND ask for the Port Over PIN number, which T-Mobile gave to me. But right after I initiated the Port Over, I got an email from Tello stating, “Your number transfer to Tello failed. Contact your previous carrier!”, and that I have to contact T-Mobile to find out why it was rejected and then email you all the reason why they rejected it within 2 days. What an extreme hassle. I have done everything Tello asked for so why is this not immediately working?
Port-ins are typically processed promptly, with any issues being isolated incidents that require coordination with your current carrier and our technical department.
Challenges often arise from the provider not releasing the number due to reasons like an incorrect PIN or account number.
For assistance, please contact our Customer Support Team and consider a three-way call with your current carrier’s porting department. We’re here to help streamline the process for you.
What are the pros and cons of porting ? I know nothing about it and will I be discontinued from my Obama llfeline /acp program?
Hi there,
Please be advised that you will not be disconnected from your current service during the port in. Also, if all the information is correct, the port in process will take less than 10 minutes. Once you submit the request, we’ll put our efforts to trasnfer your number to Tello, in the meantime, your current carrier will provide you with service. Once the number is transferred over, we’ll start providing you with service. Therefore, you will not be without a connection during this process.
Let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
You can contact our Customer Support Team as well, they are available 24/7.
Can I please have pros and cons of having a Obama number ported in and will it happen or will I lose it the program?
I don’t understand what you are doing here why you keep asking me I want an answer
yes switching networks can be a major headache Anniversary Cakes in kochi
Very easy to port from the Verizon network, easy and fast (the number was released within minutes and active on the new SIM). Luv the cost savings, service is good in my area.
Yaay! Thank you for choosing our service!
