How to switch to Tello Mobile and keep your contacts
You might already know that switching to a new mobile provider like Tello is a breeze. We’ll gladly welcome your device and phone number as we have a very easy porting process. You’ll just need to make the switch to a more flexible and better wireless service!
But you might wonder: What about my contacts? Will I be able to switch to Tello AND keep my contacts?
Of course you can!
First things first, let’s start with the beginning. Let’s see where your contacts are saved.
1. Backup (Cloud or SD card)
Ideally, you should always have your contacts backed up on a cloud of your choice: digitally on services like iCloud or Google Drive or physically on an SD card.
In this case, after you’ve switched to Tello and activated your service, you’ll be able to transfer your contacts from your backup.
2. Phone
If your Contacts are saved only on your phone and you decide to also bring your phone to Tello, your Contacts should be safe there. But, we recommend you to back up your contacts. In case anything will happen with your phone or in case you lose it, you’ll also lose your Contacts.
3. SIM card
If your Contacts are saved only on your SIM card, start your backup ASAP. Whenever you’re switching to a new mobile provider, you’ll get a new SIM card. Before switching to Tello, back up your Contacts on your preferred Cloud (or even an SD card) and import them after your new Tello service is active.
After making the switch and transferring your contacts, ensure everything is in place.
Verify that all contacts are present and correctly synced. Make a few calls and send texts to confirm your new Tello service is working perfectly.
