Tello International Roaming rates are now 5x lower
We’re proud to announce a major upgrade to your wireless experience: Tello International Roaming now comes with massively decreased rates! We’re talking about 5x lower!
With the occasion of Tello’s 9-year anniversary , we’re bringing you something you really wanted: cheaper roaming rates. We’ve listened to you and then went above and beyond to make it happen. That’s why, we’ve MASSIVELY restructured our international pricing to make things more affordable for every Tello traveler.
We’ve always wanted to be your telecom partner wherever you’ll go. That’s why we introduced Tello International Roaming in the first place: to give you peace of mind and help you stay connected, no matter where you are in the world.
🌍 What are the new roaming rates?
To break it down, here are the newly lowered rates for almost all the destinations you can think of:
Voice: 5¢/minute instead of 25¢/minute
Text: 1¢/SMS instead of 5¢/SMS
Data: 1¢/MB instead of 5¢/MB
So go ahead: call from Paris, text from Tokyo, and stream from Spain. Wherever you’re headed this summer, we’ll be right there with you (and yes, slightly jealous if good food is involved).
Now that roaming costs less, you can spend more on gelato, magnets, or other souvenirs.
Oh, and even an overpriced airport coffee makes more sense now!
Simply start a trip to our website and search for you next destination you’d like to travel to, in order to see the new roaming rates.
🌍 What else is changing?
Nothing else is changing, just the pricing. (And maybe the happiness of your wallet, of course!)
And by the way, it’s a permanent change! The new rates are here to stay, for good.
The way Tello International Roaming works stays the same: Whenever you want to activate it, make sure you have a minimum of $5 credit in your Pay As You Go Balance. Top up with the amount you need wherever you’re planning to use Tello from abroad. Plus, even if you haven’t used all your PAYG credit for roaming purposes while traveling, you can use it to call several international destinations from the States and even for domestic calls, texts, and data.
Plus, your PAYG Balance rules stay the same, meaning that the credit will expire after 90 days after purchase if you only have PAYG credit on your Tello account.
Whether you’re traveling for business, adventure, or for a great family reunion, we hope this change makes your journey a little easier (and a lot cheaper).
Let us know in the comment section below what you think about the newly lowered rates! Also, don’t hesitate to share the news with your Tello buddies!
Hello.
It’s a great announcement. I hope the best for your MVO and you will bring us new things in advance.
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks a lot and we’re so glad you like this!
Excellent new. I was waiting this new. Because I travel a lot. But I hope these rates down more yet.
Data could be 0.05 by mb was Excellent and competitive with other companies rates.
Thanks
Hi Jeremy,
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
I love your cheaper roaming rates, but what would be MORE useful is if you gave more time than 90 days before funds expired – maybe 1year or more. OR, why can’t one add less than $20 to start roaming? I think $10 would be good.
Hi Katherine,
Thank you for your feedback, we’ll make sure to forward it to the relevant department!
If Tello developed a Caller ID Feature as an added paid option, I would gladly invest my monthly tello savings into that feature =). For me, it’s about trusting the tello brand (and not some random App developer).
Hi Virgil,
Thanks a lot for your feedback!
I have Tello as my prepaid.
I will travel to Portugal, Singapore and Japan on different months of the year.
How do these roaming charges work?
What is the best way of using this roaming rates?

If you’re using the free Wi-Fi service, you will not need Roaming. you can read more about the two services here:https://blog.tello.com/news/traveling-with-tello-international-roaming-and-wi-fi-calling/
Hello
Can i use it in egypt in a same rate 5c ?
Hi Khaled,
Tello International Roaming is not intended for prolonged international use. You must reside in the U.S., and your primary usage should occur on the U.S. network.

How does it work if I have a US phone number, purchase PAYG credits and active your new international roaming plan and I call a number back in the United States. Is it only 5 cents a minute?
What if I call a number within the foreign country that I am visiting and it is not on the “free” list? Am I charged 5 cents a minute plus the international rate for that country?
